Turkish Ministry Issued Over 87 Thousand Work Permits for Foreigners in 2017

Thousands of people from all over the world applied to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in 2017 for a work permit in Turkey. The ministry, which studies the applications accurately, approved 87,190 applications from about 100,000 requests last year.

The Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security announced that it has issued work permits, which include various nationalities, and Syrian citizens are issued the highest rate of up to 24 percent of those permits. The ministry also rejected 3,631 applications for a work permit and returned 13,000 files for various reasons, while the fate of 1,762 files still in the assessment and examination phase has yet to be determined.

According to the ministry’s information, about 20,970 Syrians obtained the Ministry’s permission to work in Turkey last year. In second place after the Syrians, Georgian citizens received 7,377 work permits, followed by Kyrgyzstan with 6.360 permits, followed by Ukraine with 5.761 permits, With 4.288 permits. Turkmenistan was ranked sixth with 3.847, India with 3.055, Uzbekistan with 2.465, Azerbaijan with 2.449 and Russia with 2,390 work permits.
